Building the Foundation for Children’s Success
in
Both School and Life
KinderQ™ provides parents with an important alternative to the Kindergarten programs being offered in the public school system. It is uniquely designed to educate the whole child, and to teach the essential IQ and EQ skills children need for optimum success in Grade One and beyond.
KinderQ™ has been one of the leading Kindergarten Enrichment programs in North Toronto for the past ten years, and it has a stellar reputation and proven track record of helping young children blossom into their full potential.
The program was developed by an Early Years Learning Expert and Child Behaviour Specialist on the basis of the most current research on optimal early childhood development. This research shows that developing children’s EQ skills is just as important as developing their IQ skills. Emotionally intelligent children not only do better in school, they have high levels of self-esteem and self-confidence, and are able to relate to others in positive, healthy ways. Children can attend the program on either a half-time or full-time basis.
How KinderQ™ Nurtures Children’s EQ
Emotional Intelligence, or EQ, refers to a broad range of positive social skills, as well as skills in the areas of communication, empathy, emotion management, self-regulation, optimism, and resiliency. KinderQ™ teaches children explicit skills in all of these EQ domain areas through a fun, interactive curriculum that utilizes puppets, drama, music, art, storybooks, and games.
Character Education is also integrated throughout the entire program since research shows that nurturing good character not only enables children to thrive throughout their childhood, it better prepares them to live happy, productive lives as adults. It is best done at an early age since a child’s character is formed by the time s/he is seven years old.
How KinderQ™ Nurtures Children’s IQ
Each KinderQ™ teacher receives expert, specialized training to implement a high-quality, enriched academic curriculum that exceeds provincial standards, and instills an enthusiasm and love of learning. Multiple Intelligence teaching tools are used to develop and strengthen each of the eight different kinds of intelligence, and to provide children with diverse avenues for learning.
Children also take part in fun, daily brain-building activities that develop their neural pathways, and integrate their left and right brains to foster whole brain development. Studies indicate that early childhood is the peak time of brain development and the right kind of stimulation at this time can increase a child’s IQ by up to 30 points.

- Daily Character Education — Children are taught the specific skills needed to express a large variety of positive character traits in their everyday lives (e.g., being respectful, being cooperative, being polite, being honest, etc.). The KinderQ™ mascot, Buzzy the Positive Behaviour Bee, guides children in learning these skills by introducing them to one of her “Positive Behaviour Pals” each month.
- Yoga and Mindfulness — Research shows the great benefits of teaching these modalities to young children. They not only nurture children’s physical and mental health, they stimulate their cognitive growth.
- Creative Arts — KinderQ™ ignites children’s imagination and creative expression through daily activities in art, music, movement and drama.
- Comprehensive Assessment and Monitoring Procedures — These procedures are completed on a regular basis to ensure that every child makes continuous, maximum progress in all areas of his/her development. A Learning Portfolio is kept for each child which parents are invited to come in to review with their child’s teacher on a regular basis.
- Parent Education and Support — Parents are provided with regular newsletters and parenting workshops by a Parenting Expert which help them to raise smart, caring, emotionally healthy, and socially-skilled children at home.
